The Deltar is unique among musical instruments, based upon Calculus and a passion for art, Professor Ali has created something both beautiful in appearance and in sound. related link: Professor Ali
The Deltar is a stringed instrument. The body is hand crafted using materials that allow for warmth, expression and volume. It's strength of sound is due to the unusual tetrahedron shape of the body; three triangular faces which are held together in the form of a tetra. This unique design is the direct result of many years in acoustic research; Professor Ali's specialist field.
Materials are hand selected and to protect the environment we choose
only material from sustainable sources. The sides are made of either hardwood or laminated wood material
depending on the customer's requirements. The instrument normally
has bespoke steel strings, but ordinary steel guitar strings can
also be used to good effect, particuarly if a softer touch is
required.
The sound will vary according to the different strings used. The rear part of the instrument is open and this is the key element to producing the unique sound of Deltar. All three sides of the instrument are fastened tightly together. Inside the body are wooden lists and other support pieces to strengthen the body structure.
